A day without twitter

What a nightmare!

Let me start off by saying twitter’s support is HORRID! It took me over 7 hours to just explain to the rep exactly what the problem was.
Long story short, my account was one of those select few accounts that on tuesday they reset the passwords for protection due to the source posted in the previous post.

It locked out my account for about 10 hours…Then I finally got home and was able to get to the password reset form. Now the question it asked me in order to proceed was…what is the cell phone number linked to this account. Now…It was setup to my iPhone number which I no longer have nor remembered. After a few hours of pondering, I remembered that I had linked my AIM screen name to foward messages to my iPhone. So I logged in there, and sure enough!!! The number was stored in the log (thank god).

So I was just able to reset my password and now @deanfx is back in my hands. (No thanks to twitter support at all).

They should definitely consider changing that support center and who works for it before thinking this social networking site is going to get any bigger…
Absolutely ridiculous. Just a funny note…my ticket is still opened with them with no response after one of their stupid responses.

No twitter access!

Well unfortunately I am unable to login to my twitter account.
From what I can grasp over the internet and google, is that this is for some sort of protection.

What I find absolutely rediculous is that I can not reset my password via e-mail. I have to open a support ticket, or reset it through a linked phone number (which doesn’t work anyway).

I opened a trouble ticket with Twitter for this, hopefully this gets resolved fast.

I am curious to see if anybody elses account was effected by this…If so, I left comments open on this topic, let me know.

I’ll keep everyone posted!

Just wanted to announce that a good friend of mine Spenca has finally come back to the online world!
I am hosting his new website YouGotRooted.com (YGR) which should be all setup by the end of the night.
You will be seeing a lot of work being released from him as well as providing a pretty nice exploit database.
All the work that is done by him will also be posted here as it is a great addition to our network to have him as an affiliate. He has just hopped onto twitter. Not sure if he has done anything with it yet or how often he will be on, however you can catch him at @yougotrooted.

Anyway, be sure to check out his site, as I am sure he is working on it as I type. :D

Welcome to the network Spenca!

As you can tell I yet again, made some changes to the site. If you are a common visitor you’ll know by now I like to make changes to the site often. The reason for this post is because I have setup a plugin that allows the website to be viewed as a mobile version on the iPhone which allows you to visit the site on you phone faster by removing images and what not. This however does NOT work for blackberrys and other smartphones. I am in the process of putting together a mobile version of the site that will work for all mobile browsers (if detected) so you don’t have to wait for the regular website to load. The url will most likely be m.deanfx.net.

I will make a post when this has been completed so you can start visiting my site without waiting forever.

Anyway, feedback on the new look of the site would be greatly appreciated, as well as any ideas you may have to make the site better.

I am also in the works of setting up a forum for developers and graphic designers which is almost ready, just have to tweak it a bit before I go on announcing its launch.

That’s all for now!

Have a safe and happy new year!

#! Crunchbang Install - Lenovo S10

Over the weekend I decided to remove ubuntu and give the distro Crunchbang out. Of course, I decided to do this test on my netbook to see how well it ran and what not. So I started by using Unetbootin to make my flash drive bootable, used the application and loaded the #! (crunchbang) ISO onto the drive. After about 10 minutes of that completing, I partitioned 20gb for the OS. The install I have to admit was pretty smooth.

Well finally after I got in it, and managed to understand how the OS works differently from Ubuntu and other linux distro’s that I have used. I must say that this distro is very nice and runs extremely smooth on a netbook (so i went ahead and installed it on all my computers as well) :).

I definitely recommend trying this distro out if you know a little bit about linux and just cant figure out which one you like the most. It is extremely easy to customize the OS as you can edit almost everything right at the click of your mouse, and not even having to know much about coding or anything. So yes, if you are a beginner linux user, this could be good for you as well.

Anyway, I tweaked the OS a bit and set it up to my liking, TINT2 has been edited, as well as the GTK themes, OB Menu’s and Conky setup.  If you have any questions or need help with the os, feel free to e-mail me.

Leaked OS 5 on BlackBerry 8900

So if you are following me on twitter, I said I was going to be installing a leaked copy of OS 5.0.0.348 on my BlackBerry 8900 last night. At first I was a little nervous because earlier yesterday afternoon, I had a software issue which caused me to have to restore my entire phone with the latest official OS. After getting all my stuff together, fixing my settings,  I decided to give it a shot and pop the leaked copy of OS 5 on my phone.

It didn’t take any more than about a hour to do, no headachs or problems I came accross at all. If you read on the bottom of the post, I posted the applications I used that you would need to do this to your 8900. Unfortunately I did not video record the update process (I should of) but I’m sure there are tons of videos about installing a operating system on a blackberry out there.
Cons: None really, I did notice that in the most recent version of FaceBook app, some posts text color seem to be white, however once I move the trackball a little bit, everything shows normally. Possibly just a error with the application as all other apps work properly.

Tested Apps (other than official bb apps): I am using IM+, Facebook, Pandora, Wordpress, Twitterberry, and CaptureIT. All work flawlessly other than the minor mentioned problem above.

Applications used during OS Upgrade:
- BBSAK Version 1.7 (http://rimgeeks.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=56&p=364#p364)
- BlackBerry 8900 OS 5.0.0.348 (http://rapidshare.com/files/3056…)
Thats pretty much it! If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an e-mail.

So I finally got windows 7 to properly install onto my lenovo s10 netbook. After 2 tries, for some reason it wasn’t taking. I had to do a few tweaks to the partitions and registry in order to get it to completely install and not hang on some parts of the installation. See below for the screenshot. If you have a lenovo s10, go ahead and install win7. It operates perfectly, no lag even with aero enabled.  If you need help installing it or have any questions, e-mail me.

Just wanted to let you know that Quick N Crypt version 0.2 Alpha has been released.
You can find out more about this application and its updates on the downloads page. I decided to keep the old versions of the applications posted for public viewing, I basically just indented it on the downloads page so that it shows that it is an older version.

I also wanted to say thank you to all of the testers that have submitted bugs they found and ideas for the application to make it perform better. Please keep up the good work as you are helping the development of this application. If you have not yet played around with QNC, check out the latest version, and if you have any ideas for the program, contact me. Same goes for bugs you may find.
