semidarkDock - iPhone Skin

Posted in Daily Posts on June 13th, 2009 by admin

I just made a new dock for my iPhone.
I figured I would post it on here just in case someone wants to download it.
I really made it for my own use, so I didn’t make a whole icon pack for it…

The only icons that this dock provides for is:
- MySMS
- Safari
- Facebook
- Mail
- BeejiveIM

You can add your own icons to it, or just remove the icons folder all together and do what you want with the dock. Below is a screenshot of the dock from my iPhone.

You can download this dock my going to the software section, or by clicking here.

What a shame…

Posted in Daily Posts on June 6th, 2009 by admin

As you all know, I am a member of an online community called Astalavista.net.
This is a forum/search engine for “Hacking” “internet security” and what not, however the irony is that they got hacked themselves. This is actually a shame because the group has been around for a while and provided fairly decent service to it’s members, but I think now that it has been proven that they have been taken down, I think the community will go downhill from now on.  I wonder if the owners have got any idea this has happend considering the website is still defaced.

Anyway, Thats my news for the day.
On a better note, My update on the server and everything I was working on the other day has been completed and caused no downtime. Everything should be up and running properly as it normally does (not to sound cocky or anything).

General Update - 6/3

Posted in Daily Posts on June 3rd, 2009 by admin

I have made a few changes to the site and have a few things to announce in this post.
First, I would like to note that the DigMusic project has been completed but is still under private release, So this will not be on the downloads section until my testers ensure it is working properly. I marked it under “Completed” in the upcoming area.

I also want to let you know that I have removed a few features from the site, and added more useful ones. I removed the Video of the day from the side panel, I also removed the Login area because I have removed all other accounts from deanfx.net other than my own. This is because I am almost done with http://www.aselectfew.com which will be a members website for everyone to be a part of. I removed the video of the day and replaced it with “My Shared RSS Feeds” which will update automatically once I choose one of my feeds should be shared with my visitors. I figured this feature is a lot more useful, so you can keep updated on the tech-side of things rather see what videos I personally like more.

I did make some changes to the way the website looks, If you are a frequent visitor of deanfx.net you should already know that I am never happy with the design of my site. So why not change it up a few times a year! At least it makes you curious as to what it looks like today…tomorrow..or the next day. :)

Over the weekend I will be making some adjustments and running a maintenance again on the server to ensure proper speed and uptime of all my sites and the services I provide (rootupload, CSM…etc..etc). I do not expect any downtime from any of this, however if I do notice that something I do will cause downtime, I will add a notification on this page for you to keep updated (since deanfx.net always stays up while this is being done). So you can always come here and see what I am doing and how far I am in completing the maintenance.

If you do however have any problems logging in, or viewing any of the RootUpload or CSM accounts,
Please contact the correct areas:
For RootUpload issues please contact - techrep@rootupload.com
For CSM issues, Please contact - you@cantspam.me
For other issues that do not fit, Please visit http://deanfx.net/support and open a trouble ticket.

Thats all!
Have a good one, and thanks for visiting!

Great iPhone app

Posted in Daily Posts on May 24th, 2009 by admin

This goes for jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch users.
If you haven’t already noticed the update on the app from cydia “Backgrounder”.
This app allows you to run applications in the background so you can open other applications without terminating your previous session with the app you selected to remain running.

Whatever, this has been out for a while, however the newest update is great.
It shows you by applying a little icon next to the icons, of what programs are running in the bg.

If you look at the screenshot above, it notes that my “Phone” application is still running in the bg.
This is very usefull because obviously having apps run in the bg is definatly a battery killer, so you can manage and see what is still running and what not.

I figured I would let everyone know, since a few of my visitors do own jailbroke iPhones/iPod touches.
So if you haven’t already downloaded this, I advise you do if you are a multi-tasking user.

If you have any questions, let me know!
That is all for now!

More spam

Posted in Daily Posts on May 18th, 2009 by admin

I don’t know how they are bypassing the captcha system on the shoutbox.
But today I noticed that I got 2 spam comments on the shoutbox which had to be removed.
I am not shutting down the shoutbox because the amount of spam has DEFINATLY decreased since I added the captcha, But I am definatly going to be working to stop this from happening.

CSM has been performing properly, I had a minor issue on the sites last week which caused minor outages, however, Donald (TRU Networks) was able to resolve this issue.

CSM Mail Launched!

Posted in Daily Posts on May 11th, 2009 by admin

As long as I have been working to finally get this properly working, I have finally decided to launch CantSpam.ME. The official CSM Webmail GUI is not completely finished, so as for right now we are using the default themes. However, All our spam filters are working properly to ensure your spamless inbox.

Most of my visitors already have access to CSM and have been using it, however CSM is an invite-only service for right now to ensure our servers don’t start getting overloaded with idle inbox’s. So if I haven’t sent you an invite or setup your account, just simply send me a contact note by clicking the contact button above and I’ll send you your invite form which will give you quick and easy access to setup your CSM account.

Apple store customer service

Posted in Daily Posts on April 20th, 2009 by admin

I have to say i am a little annoyed with my most recent visit to the local apple store in my area. I have a nano which stays in my car considering my car is ipod ready…whatever. I was using it all day last week and ou of nowhere, it stoppes turning on. Of course i have tried doing the reset which did not work. So i decided to go into the apple store and see what the service center has to say…they ended up telling me that the ipod reset failed which means something inside the ipod is damaged, either physical or water damage. Which is impossible considering it does not leave my car…long story short…i didnt fall into it, went home an browsed around to see if i can somehow get it on. Sure enough, after a few google searches, i got it to turn on. Not a big deal, but i just was so annoyed at how much apples customer service is greatly advertised, and they couldnt figure out such a simple issue that i was able to resolve on my own at home with no apple tech experiance at all.

Whatever, its working now…just had t lo get that off my shoulder.

LOTD - 4/6 - “TRU Networks”

Posted in Link of the day on April 6th, 2009 by admin

The LOTD for today definatly has to be TRU Networks.

If you do not already know, This is actually my host. I have to give him a lot of respect for the fact that he is ALWAYS on point with anything you have related to your service, and even not related to your service with him.  Almost no downtime, great prices, and he is a great person to talk to, he is always up to help you if needed.

I definatly advise you pass by his web hosting website http://www.trunetworks.com and if you are looking to purchase a domain, you can also check out his domain selling account which would be located at http://www.trudomains.com.  If you have any questions regarding his service before you register with his network, feel free to contact me any time. I definatly would vouch for Donald’s great service any day of the week. I have been with his network since about 2000? and I have no thoughts of ever leaving from TRU Networks. Go check it out! :)

LOTD - 3/30 - “Astalavista”

Posted in Link of the day on March 30th, 2009 by admin

Haven’t submitted an LOTD in quite some time.
Today’s Link of the day is going to be Astalavista.

I am choosing astalavista as the link of the day because I have been a member of their site for a while now, and I definatly have to say that the content they provide (ebooks, whitebooks, how-to’s…etc…) are amazing. It is definatly worth buying an account with them, as well as the fact that they have such a great forum.  A lot of different types of discussions and what not. If you are into tech-related forums (networking…programming) you should definatly check it out if you haven’t done so already.

If you do end up signing up, Send me a PM (DeanFX) is my username, and tell me how you like the site :)

Shoutbox back Online!

Posted in Daily Posts on March 28th, 2009 by admin

If you did not already know, I had disabled the shoutbox for about a week or so due to the insane amount of spam that was hitting the shoutbox, making the shoutbox very annoying. Well, After a little work and tweaking, The shoutbox is now back online for you to post! I added a simple captcha before you submit your post. Hopefully this stops all that annoying writing from the bots that get sent here. I have complete control of the captcha box which will allow me to make it harder, and better to keep the bots out of the shoutbox.

Give it a test, I played around with it before I launched it, everything should work properly, if you get any sort of error, feel free to send me an e-mail, and I will take care of it.

So get back to shouting! :D
